# My hidden photos came back

**Short answer:** Hidden photos stay hidden until someone unhides them. With iCloud Photos, unhiding on **any device on your Apple Account** or on **iCloud.com** unhides everywhere. In a **Shared Library**, Apple says any participant can view or **stop hiding** a hidden shared photo. On iOS 16–17, **shaking** the iPhone offers Undo Hide for 8 minutes.

## Hide it again and keep it hidden

1. **Check for the Shared Library badge.** Open the photo. A Shared Library photo shows a badge in the corner of its thumbnail. If so, tap **••• › Move to Personal Library** first.
2. **Hide it again.** Open the photo, tap **••• › Hide** and confirm with **Hide Photo**.
3. **Use a lock nobody else has.** If someone with your Apple Account keeps unhiding, move the photo into a **locked note with a custom password** or a vault app.

### Can someone else unhide my photos?

Yes, in two cases. Anyone using a device signed in to your Apple Account, or signed in on iCloud.com, can unhide photos, and with iCloud Photos the change syncs everywhere. In an iCloud Shared Photo Library, Apple says every participant can view a hidden shared photo or stop hiding it.

### What is Undo Hide on iPhone?

On iOS 16 and 17, Apple notes that if you hide a photo by accident you can shake your iPhone within 8 minutes and tap Undo Hide. If you shook the phone by mistake and tapped it, the photo returns to your library. Hide it again with More, then Hide.
